Renalt John Barnes, 84, 720 E Boston Ave, died today at 5:07 AM at Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 12, 1896 in Herman. He married Almira Bowton October 4, 1917 in Abingdon.
Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Robert T (Cleone) Dawson, Monmouth, and three great-grandchildren.
He was reared and educated in Knox County and Kansas. He and his brother, the late Verne Barnes, started a grocery business in 1922 which has been located at several Monmouth sites, and is currently in the 200 block of North Main Street. He was a member, deacon and trustee of the First Christian Church, a 50-year member of Lodge 37 AF&AM, Royal Arch Masons 30, the American Legion Marion B Fletcher Post 136, and served in World War I.
Funeral will be Sunday at 2PM at the Turnbull Funeral Home, Rev. Ellis Beeman, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Turnbull chapel Saturday and Sunday until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to the Community Memorial Hospital and the First Christian Church, the family said.
