Sauquoit - Mr. Peter A. Borello, age 44, of Sauquoit, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 27, 2004.
Born in Utica on May 4, 1959, Peter was the son of Eleanor (Tofani) Borello and the late Vincent H. Borello.
Raised and educated locally, he graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1977; he then pursued a program of studies at Mohawk Valley Community College, where he earned his associate degree as an electrical technician.
On September 28, 1991, he was joined in marriage with the former Elisa Wheatley. Throughout their 12-year union, Peter and Elisa have enjoyed a true and loving partnership based upon their mutual respect and their steadfast support of one another; they have also shared joyfully in the blessing of their daughter, Katie.
Mr. Borello began his career as an apprentice to John "Cat" Creo. He next worked as a journeyman electrician for several local electrical contractors. Then in 1985, he and Michael G. Scarafile co-founded Boscar Electric Company, Inc., located at 745 Lafayette St. During the company's 18-year history, Peter served customers throughout central NY by handling the electrical components and systems in new construction projects, as well as by repairing existing electrical installations. Gifted with innate abilities, Mr. Borello was recognized and respected as an expert in his chosen field. As a highly skilled electrician and also a conscientious businessman of great integrity, Mr. Borello was committed to his trade, dedicated to the goal of providing quality work, and determined to serve his clientele with honesty and loyalty. As a result, his thousands of customers became his friends as well, returning time after time to enlist the company's excellent service.
As dedicated as he was to his trade and his business, Peter considered his foremost priority to be his family; inspired by his deep devotion to his wife and daughter, he gave his best efforts and undivided attention to the goal of earning and deserving their love and respect. As a result, he proved to be and exemplary husband and dad. Just as deeply committed to his other loved ones and to his friends, Peter also successfully and admirably fulfilled his roles as son, brother, uncle and friend. Among his many noteworthy personal traits and qualities, Peter was especially loved for his boundless kindness, his steadfast loyalty, his respect for tradition and values, his unwavering reliability and his comical sense of humor. A man of many interests, Peter especially enjoyed cooking; he appreciated a good meal, he liked preparing favorite dishes and also trying out new ones, and he truly loved sharing his culinary creations, although not his recipes or secret ingredients. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church.
Mr. Borello is survived by his wife, Elisa; his "adored chicklet", daughter Kathryn "Katie" Flora, who was the love and center of his life; and his mother, Eleanor Borello. He is also survived by his sister, Diane LaPolla of Utica, with whom he shared a special bond; and by Diane's husband, Mario E. LaPolla, who was like a brother to Peter; a brother and sister-in-law, Vincent F. and Shelby (Pfeifer) Borello of Woodbridge, VA; many aunts and uncles with special mention of Margaret Wolkowicz, who was like a second mother to him; his nieces and nephew, Alicia LaPolla, who was also his goddaughter, Sarah LaPolla, Delaney Marie Borello, who was another goddaughter, Jason Andrick and Ellen Andrick; and his in-laws, Heather and Dan Maneely, and William C. Wheatley and his wife, Kim Lambert. Peter is also survived by many close friends and good neighbors, especially acknowledging his best friend and partner, Mike Scarafile, as well as Mike's wife, Lori, and their children Charles and Mickey.
He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his in-laws, Flora and Ward Wheatley.
Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Utica Observer Dispatch, Friday, January 30, 2004
