Earl was born in Missouri, to Stephen and Josephine (Boyd) Stewart. They moved from Missouri to Kansas and then when Earl was about four or five years old, they moved on to Oklahoma for the "Land Run of 1889." They homesteaded in Cleveland County and lived there for a few years before moving to Lincoln county. Earl married Mary Puthuff in 1902. They had four children. Bailey, Flossie, Manford and Ira. Bailey died at age 17, and later they moved back to Cleveland County. They lived on their farm there until 1962 when they sold it and moved to Oklahoma City. When Earl died, in 1966 he was survived by Mary, his wife of 64 years. He was also survived by daughter Flossie Campbell and two sons, Manford Stewart and wife Evy Lois, Ira Stewart and wife Lavieta. He was also survived by his seven grandchildren that he loved very much, they were Carolyn Stewart Burch, Barbara Stewart Owens, Dorothy Stewart Liston, Ronnie and Morris Stewart and Earl and Mary Campbell.
He had quite a sense of humor and loved to tell stories of his "escapades" as a young child and man.
He was buried in Prague Cemetery, Prague, Oklahoma, beside the grave of son Clarence Bailey Stewart.
