Mrs. Mary Foster
After a short illness, Mrs. Mary Foster died, at her home in Remington, Indiana, March 15, 1882, aged 72 years, 1 month and 19 days. She was born January 26, 1810. in Madison County, Ohio. At the age 17 she joined the U.B. Church, in which she lived a meek and exemplary Christian life, till God, in His mercy and love, released her spirit from its prisonhouse of clay and wafted it on angel's wings to that beautiful home beyond the river.
She was united in marriage to Lewis Foster October 25, 1827. In 1857 she came with her husband to Indiana, where she has ever since resided. For a number of years her home has been in Remington where she was highly esteemed — none knew her, but to love her.
While in life she was always patient, loving and forgiving, always caring for the comfort of those around her. Many will miss her gentle voice and loving smile.
She was ready and willing to go, only waiting. Her last words were: "My Lord! My Lord!" The children feel that their loss is irreparable, yet as they looked upon her silent form, noting the look of perfect peace and rest, the happy smile which seemed to linger on her dear face, they felt they could not wish her back. They know that their loss is her eternal gain.
She was laid away to rest beside her husband of her youth, in Mt. Gilboa Cemetery.
