Virginia Margaret Thornton Mallory, 85, of 7412 E. County Road 300-S, Dillsboro, formerly of Vevay, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at the Waters of Dillsboro-Ross Manor in Dillsboro.
She was born May 14, 1921, in Shelby County, Ky., the daughter of Lowry and Hattie Sullivan Thornton. She was a homemaker and farm wife all of her life. She enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was a member of the Long Run Baptist Church near Moorefield, where she taught Sunday school and attended the Women's Missionary Circle.
She is survived by one son, Howard Junior Mallory of Dillsboro; one sister, Ama Fleek of North Bend, Ohio; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard C. Mallory, whom she married March 19, 1935, and who died Dec. 12, 1999; one infant brother; and two sisters, Louise Thornton and Lena Connolly.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial will be in Vevay Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
