Frances Margaret Gilliam, 38, died Friday in Chicago, Ill., as the result of an airline accident. She was born in New Bedford, Mass., June 27, 1923, and had been enlisted as a WAVE in World War II. She was employed in the supervisor's office of the Six Rivers National Forest prior to her death. She had resided in Eureka since 1956 and in the county for the past 10 years.
She is survived by her husband, L. Neil Gilliam, Eureka; parents, Mrs. Lemuel H. Baggerly, New Bedford, and James Richards, New Bedford; brother, Bruce Baggarly, Fall River, Mass.; and two half-brothers, James Richards, Jr., New Bedford, and Staunton Richards, New Bedford; grandfather, James Richards, Sr., New Bedford.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Pierce Mortuary with the Rev. Gregory Morony officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
