WOODROW WILSON BEVANS of Iselin, Pa. passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 1, 1961, at 2:02 a.m. in DuPage County Illinois at the time of the TWA accident.
Born November 4, 1918 at Vestaburg, Pa. he was a son of Easter Kennedy Bevans and the late David Bevans. His early life was spent at Vestaburg; some years at Sycamore, Pa. and the past ten months at Iselin. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church at Tiffan, Ohio, and had attended the Iselin Union Church while a resident there. Mr. Bevans was employed by the U.S. Bureau of Mines and was a World War II Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 during which time he was awarded Philippine Liberation two Stars, Victory Medal WWII Atlantic - Pacific four stars and American Theatre .
Surviving are his wife, Rosell Smith Bevans; his mother of Vetaburg, Pa.; four sons: Woodrow W., Jr., Larry Emmett, John David, George Geary, all at home; five daughters, Mrs. Roy (Nancy) Shoup, Jr., Wnynesburg; Lois Jean, Dolly Elizabeth, Bonnie Lou, Susan Dorac, all at home.
Four brothers, Albert and Thomas, Vestaburg, Pa.; Edward, Yermo, California; William, Baltimore, Md., and two sisters, Mrs. James Tedrow, Jefferson, Pa. and Mrs. Howard Fisher, Baltimore, Md., also survive.
A son, Lee Edward, is deceased.
Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Friday at the Harold T. Robinson Funeral Home, Saltsburg, and may also pay their respects at the church 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Services Sunday, September 10 at 2:30 p.m. in the Olive Branch Church (at Smithton, Pa., with the Rev, James Earls officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery, Smithton, Pa.
