MASON CITY - Dick COE, 80, of 2 Circle Terrace, died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the Manly Nursing and Rehab Center, Manly, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Monday, November 10, 2008, at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 East South St. Manly, with Pastor Don Preston officiating. Burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery, Plymouth.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 P.M. until 5 P.M. at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 East Spring Street, Manly; and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Bethel United Methodist Church, Manly or Hospice of North Iowa.

Dick COE was born June 20, 1928, in Mason City, the son of Wayne and Ruth Ann (WHARAM) COE. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1946. Dick and his family farmed west of Manly. He was united in marriage to Margaret JACKS on April 29, 1950, in Waterloo; to this union three sons were born. In 1957, the family moved to a farm north of Plymouth. Dick farmed and worked at the Sugar Beet Plant and was a mechanic for Armour; retiring in 1983. Dick owned and operated a bulldozer doing custom work.

Dick and Margaret enjoyed time in the Peace Corps spending time in Siera Leone, W. Africa from 1975 until 1977. He liked traveling, both in the United States and abroad, wintering in the Rio Grand Valley, Texas. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, working in his shop and his garden.

Dick was a member of US Farmers Association and he attended the Bethel United Methodist Church, Manly.

Dick is survived by his wife, Margaret COE, Mason City, sons, James (Laurie) COE, Libertyville, IA, Dale (Cheryl) COE, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Amber Lynn COE, Libertyville, IA, Mike HUMPHREY, Fargo, ND, Scott HUMPHREY, Milnor, ND, Angie TAYLOR, Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Michael Jr., Brittney, Myranda, Theron, Hailey Jo, Jaiden, Tihlor; brothers, James L. COE, Parkers Prairie, MN, Duane D. COE, Nora Springs; sisters, Elda THIELEN, Rockford and Ruth Ann SCHOLL, Mason City; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert "Scott" COE, brothers Keith and Ellis COE.
