Harold Franklin Anderson
Harold Franklin Anderson, 55, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2006 at his home in Yuma. He was born on June 30, 1950 in Flagstaff, Arizona.
He was a graduate of Kofa High School, attended classes at the University of Arizona and graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1973 with a degree in Biology. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
After graduation, Harold joined the Peace Corps and traveled to Malaysia. He was a member of the Audubon Society, loved nature and visited South America, Central America and Mexico. He was an avid outdoors man and competed in several tin-man triathlon competitions.
Upon leaving the Peace Corps, Harold returned to Yuma and founded Yuma Chemical Company where he worked as an Entomologist and sold agricultural chemicals.
Harold was active in the Elks, played for years on the Stew softball team and sponsored many athletic teams during his lifetime. He had many good friends in Yuma who will miss him and his wonderful sense of humor.
Harold's proudest moment was the birth of his daughter, Elizabeth, whom he loved dearly. He bragged about her accomplishments, no matter how small, to anyone who would listen. They shared many great times together.
Harold is survived by his wife, Kathryn Gilmore Anderson, of Yuma; his mother, Mildred Edythe Anderson, of Heber, Arizona; his daughter, Elizabeth Anderson Pacewic (Jeff); his grandson, Austin; his brother, Robert, all of Yuma; his niece, Erica Anderson; and his nephew, Aaron Anderson, both of Heber; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Franklin Anderson.
A memorial service will take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 16th Street and 14th Avenue on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Hospice of Yuma or Amberly's Place.
