Garry James "Cisco" Ciskowski resident of Ponca City, OK passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. He was 70.
The graveside service will be held on, Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 11:00 am at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Medford, OK with Father Mike Wheelahan officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.
Garry was born September 18, 1939 in Caldwell, KS. He was the son of Herman J. Ciskowski, Imogene Lamb Ciskowski, and Nadola Ptacek Ciskowski, whom all preceded him in death.
Garry was raised in Medford, OK, and attended the local schools. He received his Bachelor Degree in Biology from NWSU. He received his Masters and Doctorate in Medical Microbiology from the University of Oklahoma. After graduation he served in the Peace Corps teaching in Malaysia for two years. He taught Medical Microbiology at IUP for approximately 35 years in Indiana, PA. When Garry retired from teaching, in 2006, he moved to Ponca City, OK to be near family. He loved camping in northern USA and Canada, antiquing, and especially collection antique quilts. He loved traveling to Africa, and made several trips there.
He is survived by siblings; Linda Brandt and husband Larry, Cleta Privett and fiancÚ Frank Childers, Charles Ciskowski and wife Marlene, Shelia O'Pry and husband Jerry, Randy Ciskowski and wife Connie, Tom Ciskowski and wife Jan, and Michael Ciskowski, four aunts, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
