Ray, who resided in Marshallton, Delaware, served as a Staff Sergeant with the Field Artillery of the 106th (Lion) Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on October 3, 1940, prior to the war, at Madison Barracks, New York. He was noted as being employed in the production of bakery products and also as Single, without dependents.
He was "Killed In Action" in the Battle of the Bulge during the War and was awarded a Purple Heart. He had served in the Army for ten years and two months at the time of his death.
