John, who resided at 38 New Street, Dover, Delaware, served as a Petty Officer First Class, 87th Naval Construction Battalion, U.S. Navy during World War II.
He died of illness while stationed at Camp Endicott, Rhode Island.
He had served in the Navy for three months at the time of his death.
