John, who resided at R.D. 3, Milford, Delaware, served as a Sergeant with the 12th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division, U.S. Army, during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on May 9, 1942 at Fort Dix, New Jersey and was noted as being employed in the manufacture of textiles and as being Married.
He was "Killed In Action" at Montebourg, France by pocket fire while serving as a section leader of a mortar squadron.
He served in the Army for one year and eleven months and was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
