Son of Gardener E. Short and Flossie C. Carmean Short.

Robert, who resided in Milton, Delaware, served as a Private with the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He was "Killed In Action" near St. Lo, France during the war.

He had served in the Army for one year and five months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
