Son of Benjamin Franklin Selbe and Maude Estella Hively Selbe who resided at 309 West Eighteenth Street, Wilmington, Delaware during the war.
Paul served as a 1st Lieutenant, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on August 20, 1942 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Lawyer and also as being Single, without dependents.
Paul was one of seven Army personnel killed when C-47B Skytrain (#43-30682) faltered on take-off and crashed at the intersection of 38th & Mare Streets in Oakland, California.
The plane was part of the 94th Troop Carrier Squadron, 439th Troop Carrier Group assigned to the Laurinburg-Maxton Army Air Base, North Carolina.
It is currently unknown if Paul was assigned to the plane or was a passenger.
Paul had served in the Air Corps for one year and five months at the time of his death.
