aged 89.

Jonathan was the son of William Bell and Abigail Kittridge, and was a Revolutionary War soldier. The 1835 pension roll lists him as a pensioner who served in the Massachusetts militia. However, an SAR application shows his service as being from New Hampshire, and cites official records. Perhaps they are both correct. According to the latter, he was serving on 1 August 1775 in Capt Samuel Richards's company, Col John Stark's regiment, as a private, having enlisted 23 April 1775, with service for 3 months and 16 days. He also responded to the alarm of 1 July 1777 as a private in Capt John Duncan's company, Lt Col Kilby's regiment, marching from Goffstown and other nearby towns to Ticonderoga, with five days' service. On 27 August 1778 he was in Capt James Aikins's company, Col Moses Kilby's regiment marching from New Hampshire to Rhode Island, with 23 days service.
