Jake Biggerstaff
Jake Y Biggerstaff. 53, of Rt 1, Traveler's Rest, South Carolina, died early Monday in a Durham VA hospital following a period of declining health.
He was a native of Henderson County and moved to Traveler's Rest 12 years ago. He was a veteran of WW2, having served with the US Army Air Corps in Germany and was a self employed carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Stella Worsham Biggerstaff; Glenn of Hendersonville, Norman of East Flat Rock, and Archie Biggerstaff of Greenville, SC; three daughters, Mrs Wilma Jean Lawter of Mill Spring and Mrs Joyce Roberts and Mrs Virgie Turner of Greenville; the father, Tom F Biggerstaff of Nebo; one brother, Ralph Biggerstaff of Bedford, Indiana; one sister, Mrs Annie May Richie of Marion, and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Wednesday in the chapel at Jackson's. The Rev Herbert Putnam will officiate.
Burial will be in Shepherd Memorial Park. Members of the VFW Post 5026 will conduct military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Boyce T Whitmire, Dennis Thomas, Frankie Sisk and Lewis Runyon.
The family will recieve today from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the home of Glenn Biggerstaff on Brookland Avenue in Hendersonville.
