Jane was the daughter of Oliver and Mary "Tidball" Miller. She had fourteen siblings, 9 lived: Sarah, Alexander, Thomas, John, Elizabeth, William, Oliver, James and Mary.

Jane was born 2 July 1759 probably in Cecil Co., MD. She married John Boyer. As a member of the family, John Boyer signed on 1 Feb. 1787 a statement certifying "that William Miller paid £8 to Josiah Scott that was due him from the Estate of Oliver Miller junr Deceased."
