William J. Morrow of Bloomington, Ind., died unexpectedly in his residence at the age of 71.
Born in South Bend, Ind., on Oct. 8, 1931, he was the son of Morris and Barbara Morrow . He founded Bill Morrow Realtors after graduating magna cum laude from the Indiana University School of Business in 1957.
Some of his lifetime achievements include serving as past president of the Bloomington Board of Realtors, City Planning Commission, earning the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bloomington Board of Realtors, graduating from the Realtors Institute, and serving on the board of directors for the Bloomington National Bank.
He developed the first shopping center for Mel Simon (Simon Properties) and owned a Noble Romans Pizza franchise in Florida. A board member of the Salvation Army, he worked for many of its causes that would meet the needs of the community. He was instrumental in developing a strong downtown area in the 1980s and 1990s, and was a strong, driving force behind the development of the Bloomington Convention Center. He was also a board member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Morrow of South Bend and Kevin Morrow of Fort Myers, Fla., Michael's fiancée, Yvonne Gorbitz, and Kevin's wife, Liz Morrow . He is survived by four grandchildren, Christopher of Terre Haute, Ind., and Kevin, Brandon and Megan of Fort Myers; three sisters, Colleen Haas, Grace Rodgers and Kathy Hubler; and by his faithful housekeeper of 44 years, Marie Fleetwood of Bloomington. He is also survived by Marilyn Sellers (his first wife), and by his second wife, Martha Elliott.
There will be a memorial service for the celebration of Bill Morrow 's life in the First United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Fourth and Washington Streets in Bloomington. Services will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the church.
He will be laid to rest at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend, near his parents.
