Charles S. Lawler, 78, of Pace and formerly of Greenville died Friday, June 4, 2010, at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Leland-Stoneville Cemetery in Stoneville. Rev. David Rae, Rev. Ted Culver and Father Richard Somers will officiate services.
Mr. Lawler was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Elaine, Ark., to Charles and Irene Lawler. He grew up in Elaine where he attended school. He was a resident of Greenville from 1985 until 2002 when he moved to Pace. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a truck driver for Port City Trucking Co.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Lawler in October 2000; his parents Charles and Irene Lawler; and his sister Anne Van der Ven.
He married Lucy Harrison in 2002 and they made their home in Pace.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Lucy Lawler of Pace; his son, Steve Lawler of Greenville; three daughters, Kathi Rouse of North Platte, Neb., and Patti Davis and Fran Pate, both of Greenville; three sisters, Jo Beckham and Jean King, both of Pascagoula, and Sue Culver of Germantown, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
