Born Dec. 2, 1909, in Mount Pleasant, Ralph was the son of Irvin S. and Anna M. Erickson Carnahan. He married F. Marie Thomas June 25, 1939 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Ralph graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant. He served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He was district superintendent for Continental Oil Co., worked as a purchasing agent for Schaeffer Pen Company, Mount Pleasant, and owned and operated the Launderama laundromat in Mount Pleasant until his retirement. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Masonic Lodge 8, Scottish Rite Consistory, KAABA Shrine, Davenport, Henry County Shrine Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2561 and American Legion Post 58.
Ralph was survived by his wife, Marie.
