FAIRHAVEN — John R. Wade, 78 of Fairhaven, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at his home in Fairhaven. He was the husband of the late Gladys E. (Mullin) Wade.
Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Harry Wade and Mary (Smalec) Wade, he was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict obtaining the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Wade worked at Acushnet Rubber Company/Precix Company in New Bedford as a steam engineer for 48 years. He was a long time member of the Panthers Club in New Bedford, VFW and Disabled VFW. In his free time he enjoyed gardening and outdoor activities.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Adesso and Sandra Bertoldo, both of New Bedford; a son, Bradford Medeiros and his wife, Donna of Attleboro, MA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
