ACUSHNET — Leo J. Charbonneau, 83, of Acushnet, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2013. While his body could not keep up with the cancer, it never touched his strength, faith, spirit or heart.
He was the devoted husband of Carol (Forand) Charbonneau, with whom he shared eleven, loving years.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Armand and Eva (Furland) Charbonneau. He was the grandson of the late Melina Furland, who held a very special place in his heart.
Leo was retired from Apponequet High School, where he was a machine shop teacher for 30 years. He also worked for Morse Twist Drill and Teledyne Brown Engineering.
Leo enjoyed life, his family and friends. He was an avid golfer, like watching sports, camping with his family, drinking a beer or two, and teaching Sunday School.
In addition to his loving wife, Leo leaves behind his sons, Wayne Charbonneau, Walter Streck, Kevin Streck, Scott Charbonneau, and Edward Cabral; his daughters, Sheri Sturgeon and the late Kim Borges.
Leo will be greatly missed by his eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Leo also leaves behind his beloved dog, Smokey.
