Lincoln Sentinel-Republican, December 27, 1917:
Eleanor Johnston was born September 4, 1849, at Celina,Oio and died at Lincoln, Kansas, December 17, 1917. With her parents she came to Kansas in 1871, where she maried Lancaster Darbe. Ten children were born to this union, seven of whom are living. Mrs. Darbe endured the hardships of the pioneer woman, but through it all she was cheerful and patient. Funeral services were held at the church at Pleasant Dale, December 20. Interment was made in Hammer Cemetery.
