Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Army Lawrence, Douglas County, Iowa. He served as a Second Lieutenant and was awared the CMOH as a Sergeant in Company E, 36th Infantry, U.S. Volunteers for action on November 9, 1899 at Bamban, Luzon, Philippine Islands. His citation reads "For distinguished bravery and conspicuous gallantry in action against insurgents". He died in a Hospital in the Philippines and his burial place is unknown.
