He enlisted in the Maryland National Guard on February 3, 1941, prior to the war, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in Packing and also as Single, without dependents.

Harold "Died Of Wounds" received in action in France during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
