Grover served as a Radioman, Third Class, U.S.S. Sculpin (SS-191), U.S. Navy during World War II.
He resided in Beltsville, Prince George's County, Maryland prior to the war.
He was declared "Missing In Action" when the Sculpin was severely damaged by Japanese destroyers off Truk during the war. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
