Son of John and Blanche Abigill.

Melvin served as a Private First Class, 208th Ordnance Maintenance Corps, Ord. Department, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 18, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted as being employed as a Stock Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

Melvin died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident in Italy during the war.
