"Pvt Samuel K. Eckis Jr., age 21, of Williamsport, died November 10 of wound received in action on Leyte Island on November 3.
He was a graduate of Williamsport High School and was a member of the 382nd Infantry. Before joining the Army, PFC Eckis attended A.S.T.P. at DePaul University, and was an appointee of West Point, class of 1945."
