Corona del Mar
Genevieve Amy Smith was a resident of Corona del Mar, California for 55 years. She dearly loved her home called "Channel's End", which was located just west of Inspiration Point. Her house was one of the oldest on Ocean Blvd.
Genevieve was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. In 1946, her husband, William Andrew Smith, a World War II bomber pilot, was killed in the crash of his B-25. In the 1950's, William's father, Colonel Andy Smith, served as a City Councilman and also Mayor of Newport Beach. Genevieve was employed as a secretary for the Newport-Costa Mesa School District in the 1960's and '70's.
The daughter of Arthur Lee Wood and Jean Terrell Wood, Genevieve attended Jamestown High School in North Dakota. She graduateg from the University of Michigan in 1940, with a B.S. degree in Biology. She is survived by a son and daughter, two grandchildren, and two great grand children. Her oldest son, Andrew William Smith, died in 2005.
