Birth: Dec. 4, 1828
Monroe County
Tennessee, USA
Death: unknown

Martha was 10th child of John and Nancy A. (Smith) Roper. Not much information known about her. Not known if she lived to adulthood or not. I was told she was a school teacher, but this may have been another family person. She does not appear on censuses with her parents so it has not been determined if she married about the same time as her other siblings in the 1840's. She may have been a daughter that moved away much like her sister Margaret Ann Breedlove did and has just slipped through our sight. Most of the younger siblings married in what was then Wright Co. but some changed like Webster took a 10 mile strip from Wright Co. to create its boundaries. Even if she died early it would have been in Greene Co. They lived in Greene until about 1836, moving to Old Pulaski which was soon to be Wright Co. in 1841. they lived part of the time between 1836-1841 at Old Hazelwood, then NW of Mansfield on the Lick Fork of the Gasconade River, which flows just north of Mansfield, MO. the 1840 Census for Pulaski Co. shows Yewell, John Roper, and Elizabeth Roper, Yewell my ancestor, John and Elizabeth his Mother. Also appearing is Yewell's wife Marys- Mother, Margaret Tarbutton Pool. This places them near Nancy Newton Cemetery area.
Sometime between 1840-45 was when Elizabeth died, 1845 when Nancy Agnes died, and Margaret Pool died in 1848. Yewell and family migrated to Berryville, AR. This is when Ole John moved around Mt. Grove with his other sons and daughters. Johns daughter Teletia Roper married Felix Miller in 1859 and John left Missouri and went to the State of Texas with the Millers. I read in some notes that John Roper went to Texas. We thought that was Jr. but now we theorize it was Sr. who went to Hillsboro, TX.......The country was certainly divided during the C.W. Keep up the searching!!!!!!!!!
