Arthur R. Milow, Jr., 94, of Temple, died Thursday June 28, 2012 at a Temple nursing home. Graveside memorial services will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Stork officiating.
Arthur was born in Elk Creek Nebraska, to the late Arthur R. and Ida Belle (Logsdon) Milow. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941. During World War II he served as Commanding Officer of the 643rd Bomb Squadron in the 409th Bombardment Group. He was a decorated pilot including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf Clusters and EAME with 6 Battle Stars. Battles include Ardennes Bulge, Southern France, Germany, Battle of Britain, and Normandy. He married his college sweetheart, Bette Ann Urquhart on December 13, 1941 in San Antonio. The couple lived all over the world as he was a pilot for PanAm. They made their home in Columbia, Iran, and Pakistan to name a few places. They moved from California to Temple seven years ago. Arthur was a member of the Masons and Shriners. He was a founding member of the Ft. Hood Daedalians. He was a life member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bette A. Milow, of Temple; daughters, Mardee Lake, Karen Milow-Wagstaff and husband, Larry, Wendy Stork and husband, Wayne, Sunny Havens and husband, Doug, and Candace Falsetti and husband, Nick; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
