Beatty- John Beatty died at the house of his son, George R. Beatty, Esq. in Portland District, on Monday morning April 7th at 4 O'clock of neuralgia of heart. He was born April 6, 1795, & was therefore 89 years of age the day before he death. His sons are Thomas, Joseph, Alpheus, James, Henry C., George R. & William W..
His father, Robert Beatty, who was a Revolutionary Soldier, started from Hampshire Co.,where John was born in 1797, t come to Preston Co., Fearing the Indians, he stopped at Bear Creek Furnace, MD for 3 years and about 1800 to the Dille Farm near Kingwood. His mother was a Hoke, relative of Judge J.T. Hoke. Robert died in Ohio at the age of 87 years. John married Rachel Bishop, daughter of John Bishop. He had his intend up to the last and died a happy death. The interment took place in the family burying ground, on George R. Beatty's farm on Tuesday the 8th.
