A 21 year old Kansas City man drowned early Saturday morning in Northwood Village Apartments swimming pool.
Gladstone Police said that Charles L. Ridder of Parkside, MO was attending a party at the apartment complex. He was in the pool with three friends wearing a pair of jeans. Charles was unable to swim because of a lung condition police said.
His friends swam to the side of the pool & realized that Charles was not with them police said. Officers at the scene temporarily revived him. Charles was pronounced dead at North Kansas City Memorial Hospital at 2:20am.
Mr. Ridder was a security guard for Wells Fargo. Charles was also a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, in Platte Woods. Mr. Ridder was a life long area resident.
Mr. Ridder is survived by both parent Orion & Donna (Howard) Ridder of the home; a adopted brother in Colorado; a sister of Colorado; a paternal grandmother of Missouri; maternal grandmother of Kansas.
Services will be at 10:30am Tuesday at the church & interment in in East Slope
