He enlisted in the Army on January 4, 1944 in Syracuse, New York. He was noted as being Single, without dependents.
He was "Killed In Action" in France during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart.

PVT Robert K. Edwards, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Edwards of 113 Meredith Avenue, Nedrow, and a former carrier for the Herald-Journal, was killed in action in France, Nov 2, his parents were notified Saturday by the War Department.
Pvt Edwards was employed at the Sanderson Steel Company plant before entering the service of his country. He had been a Herald-Journal newsboy and through his abilities won a trip to Chicago.
He has a brother, Storekeeper 3/3 William H. Edwards, serving with the Navy in Trinidad.
Pvt Edwards entered the service last January and trained at Camp Blanding, Fla, and at Fort Meade, Md. He landed in Italy 4 months ago.
Surviving besides his parents and brother are two sisters, and his grandmother, Mrs. Emma Horton.
