Mary Ellen Hohensee, 72, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mrs. Hohensee was born April 16, 1937, in Amarillo to A.E. and Margaret Banasik. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School and had worked at Montgomery Ward's for more than 15 years until her retirement.
She loved being outdoors and walking through her neighborhood. Her dogs were her constant companions.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.E. and Margaret Banasik; a sister, Margaret Ann Colvin; and a daughter, Sharon Hohensee.
Survivors include two sons, Gayland Hohensee and wife Peggy and Mark Hohensee and wife Donita, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Karen Green and husband Scott of Amarillo; a brother, John Banasik and wife Terri of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Kristen Payne and husband Jason, Brandon Green and wife Barbie, Robert Green and wife Michelle and Kortnee Hohensee; and several nieces and a nephew.
The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association, 2514 82nd St., Suite B, Lubbock, TX 79423.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
