July 1, 1861 - Enlisted in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry
On January 24, 1863 he ended military service due to disability. In April 1863 he received a Veteran's pension.

During the 1880's, while a resident of Tombstone in Arizona, he was a member of Burnside Post, Grand Army of the Republic.
