R. J. N. "Nick" Dorsey, the son of Dimmon and Elizabeth (Newman) Dorsey, was born in McMinn County, Tennessee on October 8 1843. He was a Confederate soldier during the war, having fought in the battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas and other battles. He lived in Gentry County, Missouri. His first wife, Margaret Thompson, died in 1896, leaving children by a previous marriage. Dorsey then married Emma Crispen, who survived him at his death on March 24, 1918.
