Obituary of David Wesley Hutchinson;
There passed away at his residence Maple View Farm, Escott, on Sunday, March 5th, after three weeks illness of pneumonia, one of the oldest amd most highly esteemed residents of thie community in the person of David Hutchinson. Born of U.E. Loyalist parents, in the Township of Escott, in June 1829, the deceased had long passed the alloted span of life, having reached the ripe age of 81 years and nine months. He had been a life long resident of the municipality of which he was one of the pioneer agriculturists. Many years ago he surrendered his life to Christ and united with the Methodist Curch, always retaining his membership and taking a lively interest in all the working and plans of the church. Being strictly temporate in all his habits, just and honorable in all his dealings, genial and kindly in all his bearings toward others, ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, he was truly a friend loved and esteemed by all, both old and young. He is one of whom it may be justly said the world is better by his having lived, and in his death his friends rise up and call him blessed.
He is survived by hs widow Martha Moxley Hutchinson, three borthers, James, Wellington and William, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Cross and Mrs. Martha May, all residents of Michigan; also by six sons, Norman and David, Agriculturists, Firmin, Postmaster and Township Clerk of Escott, James B.S.A. of Fort Williams, Joseph in mercantile business in Spaulding, Saskatchewan, and George M.D. in Beinfait, Saskatchewan, and two daughters, Mrs. Rev. W.J. (Mary Etta) Cross, Jackson. Michigan amd Mrs. T.S. (Ida) Kendrick of Athens. David and Emily Hutchinson had one other son who lived in fort William, Ontario.
