Marian L. Craiger, 89, formerly of Elkhart, passed away at 10:42 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center – Plymouth Campus.

Always caring of others, she is now in the loving care of her Lord Savior.

In August of this past year Marian returned from the mission fields in the Dominican Republic where she assisted her son and daughter-in-law as a ‘prayer warrior and caregiver'. She has resided at Miller's Assisted Living in Plymouth since her return.

Marian was born the daughter of John and Lila (Stiffler) Holton, on August 22, 1921 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She graduated from high school there in 1939.

She became the bride of Ernest H. Craiger on December 31, 1942 in Altoona; he preceded her in death on July 15, 1977. Also preceding in death was a son Dale E. Craiger, her eight brothers and three sisters.

Marian was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart, loved to read the Bible and enjoy time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to being a homemaker, Marian had worked over 25 years with the Army/Air Force Exchange Service in Washington, DC.

Surviving is her son Tim H. and wife Virginia Craiger of Elkhart, Ind. and daughter-in-law, Janet Craiger of Washington, DC. Grandchildren include: Aaron and Gregory Craiger; Kelly L. and Rev. Scott Yoder of Plymouth and their children, Reis, Hudson, Chapman, Owen and Davis; Karla R. and Jason Reed of Chicago and their child, Jack; Brandon H. and Ashlee Craiger of Indianapolis and their children, Braylon and Briggs. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

A time of sharing will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the First Baptist Church of Elkhart, 53953 County Road 17, Bristol, Indiana. A celebration of life service will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the church with Rev. Scott Yoder officiating.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Altoona, Penn.
