"A History of the Town of Middlefield, MA", Vol. 2, page 458 notes that Lucinda died "Worthington, March 23, 1836, ae 82". This book was written in 1924 and is generally accurate although poorly annotated. The authors have the advantage, however, of having lived when these grave stones were probably much more readable. If she was age 82 in 1836, she would have been born in 1754.
Lucinda married Asa Cottrell on December 6, 1770 in Worthington. MA VR to 1850, Worthington, V1:82; "Lucindy, Mrs. [int. Lucenda, omits Mrs.], and Asa Cottrel [int. Cottril of Saulsbury], Dec. 6, 1770". Note: "Mrs" implies that she may have been a widow and that As married before she married Asa; another record refers to her as Lucinda Otis Clapp. On the other hand, if she was born in 1754 as suggested in "History of Middlefield", it means that she would have been about 16 at her marriage to Asa, hardly enough time to have become a widow it seems.
