To Appeal $6,300 Verdict
Lake Shore Road Will Seek Decision on New Question.
Damages to the amount of $6,300 were awarded Herman Reschke against the Syracuse, Lake Shore & Northern Railroad Company in Supreme Court yesterday morning. Reschke's left leg was amputated as a result of being run over by one of the defendant's cars at Long Branch July 31. Soon after the verdict was reported Ernest I. Edgcomb, attorney for the defense, stated that an appeal will be taken immediately.
The claim of the plaintiff that he was crowded between two cars and thrown under the wheels raised the question of proper facilities for handling passengers. It was upon that ground that the jury reported its verdict. The question has not been ruled upon by the appellate courts. W. J. & S. E. McClusky appeared for the plaintiff.
