Major League Baseball Player. A native of West Newton, Massachusetts, he was a pitcher for nine seasons (1960 to 1969) with the Milwaukee Braves, Houston Colt .45s/Astros, Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs. Nottebart hurled a no-hit game on May 17, 1963 for Houston against the Phillies, which was the first in the organization's history. He enjoyed his most successful season in 1963, when he notched 11 victories with 9 complete games, posting a 3.17 earned run average. In 296 career games, he won 36 and lost 51 with a 3.65 lifetime earned run average. He died of complications from a stroke. (bio by: C.S.)
