Berniece Ellen Hochstedler Lawson-Gilbert, 83, of Osceola, MO; formerly of Kansas City, MO, passed away April 1, 2005, at Research Medical Center Kansas City, MO.
Mrs. Gilbert was born October 1, 1921, in Osceola, MO, to Leonard and Rosie Hochstedler.
Mrs. Gilbert was a veteran of WWII and was the first woman in Kansas City to join the Navy Waves and served as a nurse in Oakland, CA.
Mrs. Gilbert enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a smile.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, James F. Lawson and Edgar T. Gilbert.
Berniece is survived by four children, two daughters of Osceola, MO; one son of Kansas City, MO; two sons of Texas; four grandchildren, of Osceola; three sisters all of Osceola; a brother of Temple, Texas; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at 10 a.m., at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola. Burial will be in the Kings Prairie Cemetery near Osceola. Family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Monday at the Sheldon Goodrich Chapel in Osceola.
