Bill Jay Brite, age 82, of Kimberling City, MO, died October 18, 2005, at the Table Rock Retirement Village. He was born on August 22, 1923, in Monett, MO, the son of Desmond and Maud Withers Brite.
He was a graduate of Central High School in Springfield and attended SMSU.
He was a member of the Unity Church in Springfield.
He was a decorated veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in major South Pacific battles.
Bill lived for many years in Springfield and was employed by Sears, was a sales representative for General Motors and Fruehauf Trailers. He and his wife were owners of the Brite Clothing Store in Branson from 1968 until their retirement in 1982.
They had spent the past 22 winters in Key Largo, FL. He was an avid fisherman and always had boats.
Survivors are his wife of 39 years, Bonnie I. Rowland Brite of Kimberling City, MO; a niece of North Carolina; a nephew of Lee's Summit, MO; a cousin of Springfield; and two step-children by a previous marriage, Jean O'Neill and Randy Thomas, both of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
He requested that there be no funeral services or visitation. Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home of Branson. Interment will be at a later date in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
