J. M. Colson Passes
JAMES MONROE COLSON died at his home in Ringling early Saturday morning after five years of lingering illness. Funeral was at the Baptist church in Ringling Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. O. BIGBEE of the Baptist church, Rev. CHARLES MANN of the Ringling Methodist church, and Rev. F. E. DOLLAR of the Assembly of God church. Interment was at Rose Hill cemetery at Ardmore. Pallbearers were JOE HARPER, FRED MITCHELL, L. D. THOMAS, CHARLES HACKLER, SAM MCGOWAN, and A. C. SWINNEY. Mr. Colson was born at Boonesville, Mississippi in 1859. He moved to Indian Territory in 1889, first settling at Ardmore. He moved from Ardmore to Cornish in 1909 and served as constable of Earl township for several years. He was well and favorably known. Survivors of his immediate family are his widow and three daughters, Mrs. ELLA UZIE of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. A. E. SARRETT of McMann, Mrs. OUIDA WOOD of Ringling; three sons, WILLIAM M. and J. B. COLSON, both of Ringling, O. L. COLSON of Phoenix, Arizona, two brothers, BRYSON COLSON of Madill and FRANK COLSON of Oklahoma City, 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.
