Pioneer Dies Here Tuesday
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m., at Champion's funeral home for Mrs. May B. Bickle of Sheridan who died at the hospital late Tuesday evening. Burial will be in Prosser, Wash.
Mrs. Bickle was born May B. Stover, May 26, 1877, in Cowley county, Kan. In 1879, the family crossed the plains in covered wagons to Montana and bought a farm near Bozeman. In 1885 they moved to Johnson county which then included Sheridan county, and settled near Banner.
Mrs. Bickle attended the country schools and school in Sheridan, graduating from it's high school with the class of 1895. She also attended normal school at Fremont, Neb., and taught in country schools of Sheridan county and in southeastern Montana.
She was married to William B. Bickle at Plevna, Mont. Later, they moved to the Yakima valley and bought a farm near Prosser. Her husband is buried at Prosser.
She is survived by two sisters, Lena A. Stover of Sheridan, and Mrs. Laura H. Beckham of Chester, Va. and several nieces and nephews, including Leland J. Beckham of Chester and the children of Etta Harper, a sister, and George J. Harper.
Mrs. Bickle was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Sheridan 53 years.
