PITTSFIELD- Ellis H Stottle, 86, of 1H Rose Manor died early yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born Oct 22, 1904, in Youngstown, NY, the son of Frank and Donna Currie Stottle, and was educated in Youngstown schools. He came to Windsor and then moved to Dalton, where he lived for 25 years. He also had lived in Pompano Beach, Fla., for five years and returned to Pittsfield in 1976.
Mr Stottle operated a farm while living in Youngstown and later was employed by Crane & Co., in Dalton and A.H. Rice Silk Co. He worked at Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams as a stationary engineer, retiring in 1968.
Mr Stottle, a clockmaker, and repaired antique clocks. He maintained the town clock at Dalton Town Hall for many years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dalton.
He leaved his wife, the former Caroline I. Mitchell, with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept 15; a son, Franklin G. Stottle of Pittsfield; a daughter, Mrs Phyllis Squires of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Mrs Luna Conger of Palm Bay, Fla; seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.
The funeral will be private, and there are no calling hours.
In liu of flowers, donations may be made to Berkshire Medical Center in care of the Park Funeral Home, which is in charge of arragnements.
