Silas was born in Phelps, Lawrence County,
Missouri to Marvin Shields and Bessie May (Mae) Langley. He was the only child born in this marriage.
Marvin died when Silas was only two years old. His mother remarried three more times to a Mr. Rogers, Mr. Elmer Lane and Mr. John Petty.
Silas's grandparents (parent's of Besse) Chubbery Langley and Rosana Nally helped to raise him.
Not only did these grandparents helped to raise Silas but they also helped raised another grandson Ernest Langley.
This created a bond between the two cousins, like brothers, that lasted they're lifetime. They ended up meeting two Nelson sister's and married. Without knowing they created a bond with in the families that is still very much active today. Ernie's two daughters Linda, Naomi and they're cousin Brinda Shields met the Green brother's and married, creating two generation's of double cousin's.
Personality I feel that my family roots are not just unique but special and very heart felt. Our bond as cousin's have a love for one another that is so very strong.
