|Birth: ||Sep. 5, 1891|
|Death: ||Dec. 23, 1970|
Hazel's father was the engineer and superintendent of the Glen Eyrie estate of General William J. Palmer, the founder of Colorado Springs, Colorado. After her father's death, General Palmer became Hazel's legal guardian and was required to grant his permission for her to marry since she was only 17 years old.
Hazel married Glen Eyrie Martin, son of William C. and Margaret Anna Livingston Martin in June of 1909.
Hazel and Glen had six children. A son born in 1915 died in infancy and another child was stillborn in 1921. Another daughter died at the age of 16 and three daughters survived to adulthood.
Hazel is mentioned as surviving her husband of nearly 61 years in Glen's obituary. Hazel's tombstone has the death year as 1970 which is supported by burial dates and her published obituary dates. As Glen was a noted citizen of the area, his obituary may have been prepared before her death and not edited before it was published.
